Orthodoxy is a sect of Christianity followed by over 200 million people, making it one of the top sects of Christianity worldwide. The religious practices are heavily influenced by eastern European cultures such as Greek and Russian. In 1054, the Eastern and Western churches split into two distinct groups in an event known as the Great Schism. Eastern Orthodox churches focused on worship to God through readings of the Bible and practicing prayer.
